The Grampian Assessor & Electoral Registration Officer currently has a number of vacancies within the organisation. Currently, these are within our valuation section and relate to a Principal Valuer post, graduate and qualified valuer/surveyor posts and a Technical Assistant post.

The Principal Valuer post is open to experienced surveyors on either a part time or full time basis and on a permanent contract. This is a an exciting and rewarding role within a multi discipline local government organisation.
The graduate and qualified valuer/surveyor posts are open to suitably qualified applicants on a permanent contract, with consideration given to candidates seeking either full time, or part time hours.
The Technical Assistant post is based in our Elgin office and is open to suitably qualified applicants on a permanent contract.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient management of a team comprising Valuers, Trainee Valuers and Technical staff who undertake the survey and valuation of non-domestic and/or domestic properties for the purpose of maintaining the Valuation Roll and Council Tax Valuation List respectively. A key aspect is the ability to defend valuations, negotiate with appellants or their representatives, prepare appeal cases and appear as an expert witness before Valuation Tribunals.
Applicants should be Chartered Surveyors (F/MRICS) with extensive experience in the survey and valuation of commercial and/or residential property and have the ability to organise and motivate a multi-discipline team in all aspects of relevant activities. Applicants should be computer literate and have excellent communication and team working skills together with an enthusiastic, self-motivated and flexible approach to work.
The successful applicant will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations to meet the operational requirements of the Service. The Grampian Assessor & Electoral Registration Officer is seeking Clerical Officers to join a team dealing with all the functions of the organisation – electoral registration, council tax banding and valuation for rating – and the successful candidates will be required to undertake a wide variety of duties within this demanding environment.
You must be highly motivated and have a flexible and positive approach to all aspects of work. Your communication and organisational skills must be of a high standard as you will be required to work on your own initiative and as part of a team liaising with the public, other public sector bodies and external agencies. We are seeking a motivated individual to assist with the process of individual electoral registration in Grampian. The work will focus on canvassing addresses in Aberdeenshire to ensure that the electoral register is up to date. We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills who is willing to travel unaccompanied to addresses to deliver forms and assist citizens to register to vote. When not canvassing addresses you will be assisting colleagues with other tasks such as processing registration data, either wholly in the office or on a hybrid part office/part home working basis.
The successful applicant will have an organised approach and have the ability to work independently to deadlines. The successful applicant will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within the area to meet the operational requirements of the service and this is normally undertaken by use of a car. Travel expenses and a vehicle user allowance will be provided.
Training will be provided although previous experience in a similar role would be advantageous.
